You are not alone ..........I go through these phases at least twice a year!

Little back ground here , I'm now in my early 40's, my wedge falls somewhere between the 2nd or 3rd car, it's impractical,can not be used for most daily chores, or take the whole family anywhere, and is not driven during the winter, and after 11 years, it's the car I've owned the longest in my life! I've got a mortgage, a half renovated house, I'm married with three kids and my oldest daughter will be driving next year.....I work for a north American car company,all of my fun cars were domestic v8'S, 4 of which were Mustangs.....


I really should be driving something else, my heart bleeds for another 'stang, I lust for Buick Grand Nationals, Monte Carlo SS's, and 1970's full Size GM convertibles, and lately wish I had gotten into motorcycles instead of cars....
My bucket list of cars includes anything related to Mini Austin, Volkswagen GTI's & Westfalia camper vans, RatRods, oldschool woody stationwagons, and factory Police cars!

The only thing that keeps me from letting go is the family heritage I have with this little silver dhc and so hopefully one day before I'm too old (hint to wifey ; maybe it would be my 50th birthday wish??) ...I'll get around to building that garage in the back yard, and finally be able to do what I really want to do with the wedge to make it a permanent keeper......... install a v8!!

Hi Paul,

Personaly my cars are never finished, there is always things to do. Get another project but keep your present one too [8D]

Any idea what you fancy doing next [?] If you do sell your FHC then i doubt you will have a problem, its one of the best in the country.

...Could never part with mine. After all, it was semi-forced on me by my relatives, and they'd kill me if I sold it [:D]

Realistically, I had actually lusted after it since I was eight, and I have a lot of emotional attachment to it, as it was my late uncle's, and all of his old garbage/loose change/tapes of the radio show he hosted/magazines/cigarette butts are still in the car, right where he left them; I've made sure not to touch them, not more than I have to move anything. Before it belonged to him, it passed through two of my aunts since new, who both decided they were sick of repair bills after about a year or so (I have no clue how these people drove).

My daily driver is an even older sports car, the missus drives a slightly newer 2+2, and I have a giant old 50s American sedan for when I need to lug things, so obviously I'm not quite sane when it comes to cars sometimes [:D] I'm shortly to have a mortgage, but no kids, and if I do her first car will be the Triumph [;)]

I doubt it'd be worth it to sell at all, as I see them on eBay in at leas running condition for prices that make me want to buy one of those examples, and only say I restored mine.

I've only sold two cars, the ones I knew I wouldn't regret; a 98 v6 Camaro, and a Lotus Esprit (don't ask).

My advice: don't (sell).

Can't see putting all that work into a car then selling for not big bucks. I'd get a second project and keep what you got. (I've got three project cars on the back burner).[:D]

The colour is BL Pimento red , all my next project money is tied up in the TR so to do something else the car would have to go, I am not gonna pretend that the car would be cheap, it owes me in xs of £20k , I wouldnt expect that back but it would be 5 figures.

Its all hyperthetical at the moment, maybe I just need to go and sit in it for a while [:)]
