After 3 1/2 years, a total nut and bolt strip down, full respray and rebuild, I am now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Work has interupted my progress on numerous occasions (hence the length of time taken so far), but has been a necessary evil in order to pay for the resto! I am hoping for a good few sessions now on the run up to Christmas.
I can now report that all the electrics on my FHC work as they should with one exception. I have accepted defeat with the headlights not lifting when you use the "pass" function (pulling back on the indicator stalk). I have noted this is a common fault, so just accepted it after scratching my head for 4 months on this snag alone! I have recently rewired my rear fogs so they now only come on with the main headlights (they were wired through a permanent live so could be switched on with no ignition key or any lights turned on!) and the seatbelt warning light works fine. I will consider putting in a set of front fogs, but that'll be easy enough.
All I have to do now is to get the engine working! This is the main focus of my attention up to Christmas, and if I can get that sorted it'll give me a few months early next year to get all those little jobs wrapped up and it'll be MoT'd ready for the summer.
Well, that's the plan[:o)]!
Wish me luck!
