Did you replace wheel studs when using MGF rims

Postby Jolyon39 » 07 Oct 2010 05:18

Also:

What is the diameter and thread pitch of our standard TR7 studs?

What type of nut do I ask for when seeking nuts to bolt the MGF rims to my car?

Jolyon

Jolyon, I only have one MG wheel, as a spare.

I simply had to get a set of MG nuts. The threads are the same, it's only the nut OD is larger.

My MGF rims require a shanked nut otherwise they don't use enough thread to be safe.

M12 x 1,5

MGF wheels can be bolted straight on without changing the studs.
You'll need other wheel nuts though.

You may need wheel nuts with a tapered seat. Mine certainly did, but it's easy to see on the wheel which sort you need. Bought mine off ebay quite cheaply, complete with Triumph logo on them

How much were they, if you don't mind me asking. I won a set of MGF alloys with 4 new tyres on e-bay last week and want to put them on my 1980 TR7 DHC.

I've seen some advertised on e-bay but wasn't sure what the quality would be like as they were cheap! [8D]

They were £20 inc postage and packing. They fitted great. No complaints.
