Canley Classics on Engine Oil

Postby ACW30445 » 12 Sep 2010 21:37

I truly am not trying to open a 'can of worms' here....just call this food for thought.

"Engine Life (Especially Spitfire 1500s) From our own experience we have one major recommendation to make to reduce the maintenence and prolong the life of any Triumph engine - use Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil. Once the engine has been run in and all leaks have been attended to, put Mobil 1 in and off you go fo 20,000 miles between oil changes. Wonderful stuff!"

How about a Model T?

Bill G. :

Mobil 1 does make a difference indeed !

I've been using 10 W 30 Mobil 1 "High Mileage" formula with the "SL" rating. I promise not to mention ZDDP, but I'm staying with "SL" rated Mobil 1 for my flat lifter engines

True, ZDDP wasn't around in the Model T production days, neither was SYNTHETIC OIL...... and neither were the modern oils we have today. Where can you buy "in the day" oil ??? Even the straight grade non-detergent oil is better than what Henry originally used on the assembly line .

The best modern synthetic oil will be used in my re-built T engine.

I guess that those in the "know" will be driving our T's for many more years to come.
