I'm not clear on the definition of 'original' when applied to TR8s being sold in the UK. As I understand, officially all TR8s were LHD sold into the US market & that zero were sold thru UK dealers. There were a small number of prototypes, press cars etc that were RHD but there seems to be a much greater number of genuine TR8s for sale in the UK. If you import a TR8 from the US & do a RHD conversion is that classed as an original TR8 (I suppose it must be) & does this account for most of the TR8s sold in the UK?

It is good to see some high prices being asked for our cars lately. Being affordable is one thing but being too cheap reduces the motivation to restore or even properly maintain our cars - except by us of course. [;)]

If you can get a look at the VIN number it will tell the market it was made for, whether it's a RHD conversion, or a V8 conversion.
At least those cars made after July 1979.

It is the first one of the 18 UK sprc cars to be built, its definitely the real thing its history is known from its build date until now. It was on the TR Drivers club stand at the NEC and it is in superb condition.
