Can the thickness of the diff shim i have lost be calculated from the gap? Ie assemble it with a shim on one side, machine a piece of steel to slip in the gap left by the missing shim to ensure the diff is right over to one side but leave enough room for a feeler guage. Talk about making an absolute balls up of this... How did they calculate the size of the shims from the factory? I can't imagine for one second they had a guy spend a whole week on one axle! Then again maybe they did if you factor in strike action and tea breaks... thanks guys.
