If anyone's got any special requests on what to put on the big screen over the course of the weekend let me know. Judging by the "Buffum & Co." requests some time ago I presume people would like the chance to see that again?

<font color="maroon"><b>I would like to see <s> "sexy girls at bath time"</s> If not that film you showed with lots of Billing events from the past

I thought that was fun with everybody shouting "LOOK THATS ME"

And with the banter after the comment like " Look you had hair then"

you know what i mean</b> </font id="maroon">

A bit of a show is planned on Saturday evening just before the disco starts but even so the videos can still run even if they'll be difficult to hear. We'll also have the projector running at other times so plenty of repeat screenings will be possible.

I met up with three former Triumph stylists who all had a hand in the TR7 last Monday so I may be able to include sections from the footage I shot then. Got some nice shots of the chaps around my TR talking about which aspects they were responsible for.

Please bear in mind that I've never been to Billing, so forgive me if this sounds like a daft question . . . . !!

Several folks have asked if I could haul my wife's TR8 Drag Car up to Billing. So is there anywhere it can actually be run up ? As in it has limited value as a static display, and it's a long haul.

It is of course loud, as in <b>LOUD</b> - don't ask me how many decibels, the only time we tried measuring it the noise meter blew out. Stratospheric. Think audible at a couple of miles on the flat.

Steering is also challenging - 2CV Michelins on the front, a yard of Hoosier slicks straddling a locked spool diff at the rear, and an awful lot of horses ripping the tarmac. Not exactly a civilized little number . . . . But fun, sort of.

Any thoughts ?

Cheers,

Alec

I would say Billing is a lot better for it than Malvern as apart from static caravans there aren't any residential areas for quite a distance. The noise and madness that happens at the Land Rover Owners International never poses a problem there. Only problem is the lack of tarmac that doesnt have speed bumps all over it....

Having said that, Santa Pod is just down the road... [:D]

The last few posts have just reminded me about something that happened at last years billing............

I think it was Sunday afternoon some guy drove down the centre of the field in tatty (but in the same sense fantasic, if like that sort of thing) big old american pick up with an exhaust note thats still ringing in my ears............

Please somebody tell me i didn't dream this as that would just freak me out to much[:D]

Gaz, I remember the Yankee pick up, it was fantastic, probably about the same amount of noise as the drag car.
As I may be the only person on this forum whos been in the drag car, I can say that it is the ultimate crowd puller. The sound is superb and Im sure all car enthusiasts will enjoy it. Alec and the car will certainly entertain the crowds, hope he brings it along.

I saw Alec "demonstrate" the TR8 drag car at Malvern in 2006 - loud it certainly is!

I would love to see it again. Mind you, if you start it up at home Alec & rev a bit I might be able to hear it from my house anyway[:)]

Alec,

Excellant if you could make, going back a few years now, there was a Capri Drag Car with a jet engine fitted to the back. Only started up for short burst but was allowed in the day time.

Agree with Wayne there is regular speed humps but short straight.

Jim
