The 3.45 diff sounds interesting maybe you could tell me how much work it's done and what sort of price you want for it. I live in Adelaide South Australia.

Its likely the postage would cost more than the CWP is worth, Im in the UK.

I would be after £60 for the CWP, it was supplied to me from S&S Preparations for £150, i never fitted it and I will be running an Atlas Axle now. It shows no signs of wear on the wheel or pinion. If you are interested you could contact me at - ileinster@hotmail.co.uk

I found the 3.45 a little sleepy around town especially on hills but great on the freeway.
Now with the 3.90 I never use first and chirp the tires going into 4th! (on a sunny day)

Hi,

3.90 in a V6 I would think you will be able to spin into 4 th !! I found that ratio next to useless in my old 3.5, almost a two speed box [:p] Run a 2.84:1 in my 4.6 and is great ratio with that much torque. I am sure my learned friend ' Chunk ' runs a 3.45 in the rear of his similar engine spec FHC but does have the benefit of a LSD and spends a lot of time on the drag strip

Cheers John

We run the 3.08 in the 4.6, & that is pretty right.

One Christmas the boy broke the planetary gears on Christmas eve, & no one was open for the next 2 weeks to get bits.

We stuck the complete assembly from my spares car, with a 3.9 in it so he had the thing while he was on leave. It was actually difficult to drive, spinning it's wheels at the slightest touch.

He checked the speedo against his satnav. It was indicating 146 Km/H at a genuine 100 road speed.

After I fitted the Skyline/HSV diff with its LSD center, I didn't tell him it was indicating 101 Km/H at a genuine 90. I'm sure it helped him keep his licence.

In my opinion the 3.45 diff is a bit long for a standard 2.0 ltr engine.
I have one of these in my DHC (with a tuned 8 valve engine). The extra horses make for a relaxed quick cruizzer.

If I see a 308 I'll be snapping it up, sounds like the ideal rear end.
The 5 gear in my T5 is .64 (as far as I can remember) so it's not bad on the freeway, 2000 at 60mph.

OMG, I just moved a 3.45 rear end out of storage to the back of the pickup, I forgot how heavy those things are, it's got to be 150 pounds!
I'm getting to old for this!

Hi,

My 2.84:1 rear end give just approx 65 mph in top on my V8, great cruising ratio, but with enough torque to still pull up to legal speed limit no problem [;)] Unfortunately a rare ratio over here, so guess very very rare over the pond, lucky I do have a spare [^]

Swapping old 3.08 axle with the 2.84 axle, and yeah they a tad on the heavy side !!!

Very nice John,
I had a 2.84 in my 440 six pack charger, was unlimited top end!
Is it just me or is that rear end in the foreground for the wide wheel base TR7?
Nice brakes by the way.

Yes it was a very cool times, 1971 440 six pack Super Bee in Hemi Orange with air grabber hood (less then 500 built). Bought it one year old for $3400.00 drove it (very quickly) for 2 years and sold it for $3000.00 when gas hit a crazy .60 cents a gallon.
What are your rear brakes off? I should up date the brakes to keep up with the engine.
Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like a great car, always liked the 60's Mopars, especially Road Runners / Satellite's and Challengers, either of these with a Hemi, four speed on the floor in Plum Crazy would be my dream car [8D]

The brakes are home built, Austin Maestro rear discs, halfshafts then turned down to fit these, home made calliper mounts, Audi WR Quattro rear callipers and Mark 4 Golf handbrake cables and various other homemade brackets etc. a bit of a mixture !

Cheers John
