Is it the body number plate thats normally popped rivited on is missing?

Plus there is a weld missing between the front panel and the wing and those 3 bolts are now making sense!! It must of had a new front panel at some stage of its life!

Cheers,
Dave

You're so nearly there.. Why is it bolted, not welded??

Any tips for removing the black underseal please?

Yes thats it. The front panel is fibreglass. Can't see any sign of collision damage behind it. Badge is missing. Rattle can is in the boot. Filled the coolant system and ran it up to temperature today. No apparent leaks so I'm guessing the radiator was removed to replace front panel and reassembled but never refilled and driven. The radiator looks like it might be new and there is a new unused bottom hose in the boot. The viscious fan assembly also looks a bit new.

I haven't gone down and looked to compare but that's were my A/C relay panel is mounted as well as the plastic cover plate seen in the lower left corner of this engine bay shot of my Spider.

The underside of the hood including the hinges are coveted in black underseal however the nose panel it locates on is body colour. The ends are not welded and there are bolts attaching it. From underneath the car it can be seen to be fibreglass.

So somebody was offering fiberglass nose panels then? Didn't know they did that.

I wish they hadn't but everything around looks straight. Maybe something fell on it or someone jumped on it. Gonna have a much better look but prob won't know 100% till the day it comes apart. Too many things on the go at the moment, think first stage will be to see what it needs for an MOT.

No short cuts to removing this stuff, just some engine cleaner
some old paint brushes and a toothbrush. Brush it on and let it soak in and then work it over with the brush using the toothbrush for those awkward areas. wipe over with a cloth and repeat if necessary, using clean engine cleaner. It's messy and tedious but at the same time very rewarding as you uncover that lovely clean factory paint finish.
