Gearbox Polybushes Post Fitment

Hi,

Has anyone picked up extra gearbox whine after changing their remote housing gearbox bushes to poly items, or replaced the gearbox mount?

It's only noticeable in 1st and 2nd and comes through the shortened S&S gearstick. The correct anti-rattle spring and plunger etc are all there. I've heard reports that overly hard rubber gearbox mounts could cause extra noise. Any item would have been harder than the slimy one I replaced at the same time.

I changed my rear transmission mount (as well as all the front bushings with hard poly) and I had a whine from the differential. I topped up the diff (not much) and that seemed to quiet it a bit. Last winter I did the rear with a combo of hard and soft poly when I had the gas tank out. There is a different whine from the differential. Now it could be thought to be a transmission whine but I'm pretty sure it's the diff. Since the front was done in winter of 06/07 and previous to that I just drove it back from Sacramento I can't really recall if it had a whine before or not so I don't know if it (mount) transmitted the whine or if it was there all along.

Hi Adam
My gearbox bushes were replaced with poly bushes last year when I had the clutch replaced and new fulcrum pin fitted, but there is no whine at all that I can detect.

Because everything is tighter now, sound could be amplified. Before there saw slop in the system that could have deadened the vibration of the different parts.

Thanks for the info guys. I think it might be due to an overly hard gearbox rubber mount so will give it a while longer.
