Yesterday my mane and I changed over the rear axle on my 7. During this I needed some diff/gearbox oil, so I went down to my local motor “and†world, as I like going there more than other high street places. Yes, I know I should of gone to one of the specialist suppliers, but it was Sunday and I needed it quick.
I got a litre bottle and then decided to go back and get another bottle, to make sure I had the right amount. At the desk, before I paid, I sad to the guys “if I do not need this and it is not opened as long as I keep the receipt, I can bring this back?†The guy said I cold for an exchange or a credit not. To which I said how about a full refund. He said no to this at which point I said “Oh OK I will leave it†and walked out.
I have had a look on the net and in particular the sales of goods act and it appears that a shop does not have to give a refund. I thought other UK based members may wish to know this as I will be careful in any future purchases.
