TR7/8 rear wing?

If you haven't been following the Parts forum, I have been parting out a TR7 that I bought for its gearbox and rear axle.

One of the parts that I found on the car was a rear wing that seems like it was made for the TR7. It looks like the maker was called 'RGA'. The 'part #' is 'AERO1'. It was made in England. It attaches to the trunk lid with 1.5" tall supports. Bolts go through the trunk lid, through the support into threaded inserts in the wing itself.

Anyone know anything about this part?

I won't be putting it on my works rally car replica, but it seems a shame to throw out good condition, well made, aftermarket parts that have survived this long.

I'll tell you what also looks half decent is a MkI MR2 wing.

I took mine off though. On a FHC a wing is as useful as a fish in a football team.

Ho ho. That's known as a rear spoiler over here. A rear wing is what you know as the rear fender I believe. The post didn't make sense to us English people until the photo appeared.

Hmmm, OK.

But you guys seem to do OK with other automotive American-isms.

That wing/spoiler pictured on the Capri is what I am talking about.

As used on a TR7, technically, it is neither a spoiler or a wing. It is a styling device.

A spoiler is used to introduce turbulence into the laminar airflow over the bodywork of the car and reduce lift. However, on a TR7 (FHC or FHC), this aero device is already in turbulent air.

A wing is used to generate negative lift (downforce). As with the spoiler case, the lack of clean air flow in that area would stop this aero device from functioning as a wing.

If it were in clean air, I think that it would function more as a wing than a spoiler. The cross section is an inverted wing shape. Having said that, I don't think it would work very well as a wing.

In Oz, & perhaps only in the older generations, those things are not wings, or fenders, they are mud guards.

actually over here a quarterpanel is a rear fender,or a wing in England which is not the same as the wing Tipo is selling, which could also be called a wing over here , along with a rear spoiler, or a styling device, which is not the same as a styling bar which can sometimes be referred to as a roll bar, though they don't provide as much protection, and you don't want to fool around without protection (but thats another story) ..................................................

I forgot about the whole wing/fender thing. Several countries separated by the same language ...

BTW, I am not selling the wing/spoiler/styling device. I am giving it away. I have no use for it, but it was in too good condition to just throw out.
