Plasticised Stone chip paint

I have a 1980 TR7 which is suffering from flaking of whatever preparation has been applied to the rear sill panels below the rear bumper. It is a thick black application which seems to have a plastic quality. The car has been re-built around 5 years ago. Any ideas on a suitable spray or paint on replacement product?

Have a look at the POR-15 rust preventative paint on the Frost website. I have found it great in the past. It is a bit expensive, but you know that it is hard as nails. I have used this paint all over my car and will continue to on the wheel arched back and front. This is much better than the stuff you can get of the shelf.

It sounds like stone chip paint, you can get it in areosols or 1 litre tins which are applied with a special spray gun, the later gives a thicker more dimpled finish.

Whichever you use you need a sound surface first so all flaking paint and rust needs removing and priming (I like zinc rich paint often described as cold galvanising).
