Poseidon green?

Postby Triumph TR7V8 coupé » 31 Aug 2010 09:45

Hello guys and girls,

The TR7V8 project is getting closer to the finish and to a total re spray.
My wife (and of course me too) liked the green color on the S/H bonnet we purchased last year at S&S. Looking at pictures I think it must have been Poseidon green.
I thought Spectatohead Jim Clark’s car was a Poseidon green one but when I saw his last pictures I’m not sure anymore, has it got a re spray and a different color or is it just the light? I like it but the wife prefers a darker shade.
Any of you who have some pictures of a Poseidon green TR7 to post here?

Greetings, J.

Hello Marian,

Thanks for the response, this is indeed the color we want for the car.
I thought about Jaguar racing green metallic but I want to keep the colors as original as possible although the car will be far from original when finished.

There were three Poseidon green cars at the Regionals two years ago. Each was a different shade of green.

And Jack McGahey's:

Poseidon Green is listed (on local auto parts store computer) as a British Motor Corporation colour.

OEM code 281 presumably Jaguar's number or
HAF Triumph's code.

Contains green, black, blue, fine aluminum, something called crs. aluminum, and orange.

I was thinking of painting Yellow TCT, Poseidon Green, one of two metallic colours available in 1979 (it's date of manufacture) but decided against it as it's too common a colour. I wanted something unique. I may stick with Tumeric Yellow it's current colour unless I go Triton green available in 1980, it is registered as a 1980 ( but there's a Triton green TR8 in Vancouver,).

Mine was originally Poseidon Green. The PO painted it something lighter than the original and now I've gone even further away from the original. My strut towers, in my signature picture, are still in the factory Poseidon paint.

Hello guys and girl,

Thanks very much for the piccies. The wife is convinced (and so am I of course) HAF/281 Posseidon Green it will be.
About being a common color: seeing a TR7 on the road in Tintin land is as rare as seeing an ice bear on the South Pole so never mind the common color aspect over here.

J. Clay: Original Factory colors or re spray’s?
