while I do understand your logic behind this (and whole heatedly agree that tech is what specific model forums are /should be about) I'm actually also surprised by this thread, and should mention that we've also had this conversation before with some other members!!

Yes the search function bites from time to time, but it's also rare that I have not found what I'm looking for with a little patience.

We already have a pretty good base for topics on this site, it's really up to you guys to place your information accordingly [;)] and the moderator's (Jay and I) to modify or change locations if deemed necessary.
You can also use the "sticky" feature to keep an important thread on the top for easy access.
(nbnbnb mod's note, I do generally police this closely, but do let some topics slide from time to time when deemed nessesary[;)][;)][;)][;)])

-General wedge chit chat; for wedge realted gossip
-TR7; for tech related to the 4 pot
-TR8; for tech related to the 8 cyl
-Sprint; for the multi-valve four
-variants and 6 cyls; (which should be combined imho)for the one off's
-events; to keep up to date on happening local and on the other side
-spotted; for the paparazzi [;)]
-for sale; for complete cars and parts (two sections obviously)
-other cars; for tech and misc ramblings
-general chat; for off-topics
-blogs; for individual resto-project follow-ups

For what it's worth [let's forget all that FWIW mumbo-jumbo] I'm with Mildred on this. It works fine, so please leave it alone.

As for Marsu's subsequent post, I'm afraid I didn't understand a word of it...! My fault, not his.

Finally - and as a point of comment and not a criticism - I find it very frustrating when a particular thread is 'hijacked' by just two or three members and turned into a game of ping-pong, something no more than inane banter of little interest to the majority that shound be banished to a Chat Room... IMHO, of course!

I want not to split the community in any case .. and I find the forum super ... although I do not understand many things and often help, fortunately the pictures :-)

<font size="4"><b>I would like to take this opportunity to great praise and thanks for the wonderful forum and the operators</b></font id="size4">

Yes, Clay has a great site set up!! and I was often glad of his images, and PDF it is also true for beans and the other ..

I thought it would be great if someone looks forwheels he find under 13 "- 17" look and can see on some TR7 like them and then make a decision...
or I want to change brake discs on the rear and it is the view already completed conversions as well as the drawings for the adapter .. it's great when a "newcomer not invent" from new

Trisha are you the moderator .. Do a few do advertising or links to S & S Rimmer and Ted Schumacher from each country some ..so that your effort is somewhat compensated and I think to understand many

I think it is a pity if all the good ideas and conversions are the eyes aud ... it is difficult to say in English ... it is good as it is - just my thoughts

Ladies and Gents,

I'm sure we all well understand the "if it's not broken don't fix it", but I contend that there are broken aspects of our current, and beloved, forum.

We should be concerned and investigate this in the same way we would approach a seaping water pump, noisy LT77 input shaft, or engine over-heating.

Here is a list of some of the things "broken" in my view:
- search (though it usually works if you thump the dash a few times)
- photo albums (has never worked for me, tho some seem to have been able to upload)
- editing posts containing quotes (results in html code in the display unless the user understands how to edit manually)
- style sheeting for profiles (blue text on black has never worked for me)

But of more concern is performance. We are a small forum with minimal (but nice) level of concurrent use. Yet, the forum timesout frequently, suggsting to me that the database is not responding appropriately.

I don't see this behaviour on any of the larger forums I particiapte in. My prior experience with Microsoft Access suggestes it's the root cause.

I like the forum as it is.
Talking about any upgrades is good , like everything else.
Any changes should be small .
I will also take the time to thank the creator/s of the site and most of its members .

Nope it's still not running
