I believe it is unanimous that we want Jclay to stay. There is no question as to the value of his advice, experience, and technical insight.
As a preacher of the Word of God, I’d like to offer my perspective. This last week there was some very offensive postings on this site. But, they obviously were not posted by any of our members, but from some devious outsider with hopes of increasing traffic to their own disgusting web venture. The postings were removed and some fun was had at their expense. I can appreciate that.
As far as crude language on other postings. I have seen some that I would consider crude. However, this forum is many-times cleaner than most. I am thankful for the good-natured fun and the clean family atmosphere of this forum. But, I tell my friends and listeners frequently, the measure of what is right and wrong is not a comparison of what others are doing, but the measure is the Word of God. (if you don’t believe in the Word of God then that is a subject for another day on another forum). We are taught that “Crude Speech†is wrong. How we define “Crude Speech†is again another story.
If there is a remote chance that the words we use are offensive to Jclay, to me, or to anyone else who might enjoy reading this forum, then it would seem simple and kind-hearted to choose a different word. Nearly everyone who has written in this forum seems to have at least reasonably basic English communication skills. We each can control the use of our words and be sensitive to the many readers of our words.
I, for one, am willing, and would encourage others to be willing, to use good appropriate language. Not just so that we can keep Jclay here, but to maintain a level of professional, clean, family-friendly words that will carry this forum to many more decades of Wedge fun.
I am grateful to so many of you who write in with questions, answers, and experience that has proved so incredibly valuable to all of us. We share in each other’s lives on this forum to some degree. I know for certain that lasting friendships have been forged on this site and I encourage each of you to continue to help build a clean, family-friendly, future for this Wedge forum for our generation, then next generation, and, with a little luck, the generation after that. But, we must consider our words now, or in another generation, this site will be much like so many others.
