I had a gentleman come by the house to pick up to work tables since he's opening up a machine shop. Unmistakeable English accent he was questioning me on what I had under the tarps in the driveway, of course being all defensive I stated they were just British sports cars LOL[:D] Of course being a Brit he asked which ones and I told him they were two TR7's and went on to explain how I am keeping the convertible original and converting the coupe into a TR7V8. We got chatting and he explains how is is from the Isle of Wright? and how he was good friends with Tony Pond back in the day when Tony was racing the 7's. It was an interesting conversation to say the least.

I've got his number and email because he plans on staying a small shop and doing small runs and odd ball jobs, which I have plenty of. Most shops in the Calgary area are set up for long runs/oil and gas specific and are not interested in one offs and such. So many idea's for the TR7 it'll be nice to work with this gentleman and see what we come up with.

Just a little story on how the 7 has touched so many people [:D]

Speaking of small world, I can't help but ask if the name Yoke has to do with your name. I have been watching the forum for some time as I am restoring a 1980 DHC original FI california car. My last name is Yoke, what are the chances?

Hey Phillip unfortunately the chances are pretty slim, my first name is Joachim (yoakum) it can be hard for North Americans to pronounce and it's a little long for my buddies so those that know me well have shortened it to Yoke, damn now that I think about it my wife even calls me Yoke [:D]

Frank odd ball jobs would be anything pertaining to the TR7 [:D] In all seriousness, you know the guys with classic cars that want to make a modification or have a part made up or want to have a discontinued part remanufactured. Most large machine shops won't touch it with a 10 foot pole. You have to find the small shop where they like doing that kind of work, or they are car guys themselves and love improving and maintaining older cars. Hence "Odd Ball Jobs" not your every day run of the mill jobs.
