Do you remember a TR7 Turbo being on Ebay about 18 months ago? It was bought by a guy who lives not far from me. I saw the car last year after he had done a resto on it.

At that time he was planning to remove the turbo installation (it's a Janspeed kit) to have it overhauled. Given the sellers location, I am sure this is the same equipment. Looks like for some reason he has decided not to reinstall it.

Air intake to the carb looks to be incredible restricted

I wonder what this does to your head gasket?

I was interested (got a thing about turbos). Assuming the CR is not reduced it can only boost to low pressures (about 4psi?). Maybe US pistons could be fitted to lower the CR so it can boost a bit higher, but without an intercooler you would not want to go too high anyway. The turbo looks pretty large and with that long small inlet pipe from the turbo to the intake manifold the lag is probably pretty interesting, might even offset the boost pressure benefit. It would be nice if the vendor had added a little technical info.

I wouldn't use an induction system that constricted the air intake that much. If you don't have enough room in the engine bay to properly engineer a turbo you would be better off using a rear-mounted system.

Agree there, small turbo, coupled to a small bore (exhaust) system to reduce turbo lag.

Well I was thinking about it... could be a nice period "accessory" and a way of extracting a bit more go out of my USA Victory.

IIRC from my visit to see the car last year, it is a Rotomaster turbo fed by a single SU carb with a pancake style air filter.

The exhaust side was connected by a kind of flexible pipe to a standard TR7 system. There is a turbo boost gauge mounted on top of the instrument panel.

In all other respects the engine appeared to be a standard UK spec 2L, although it may of course have had internal mods like US spec pistons. No sign of any changes to the cooling system.

Janspeed told the owner that the conversion was not actually done by them, but the equipment was a kit that they used to sell back in the day.

I never heard the car running, but the owner told me he drove it briefly after purchase & it went well!

And I am not bidding[:)]

One has to wonder, on left hand drive cars, is there room for the steering column? I would think the increased heat from the setup would pretty well cook ones legs on that side of the car without a whole lot of inside and outside firewall insulation. Still, very interesting!

Not only the steering column will be a tight fit (if at all).
Fitting your brake cylinder and servo with this set up looks like a challenge too [:D]

Brakes? Who would want brakes when this thing spools up? Warp Factor 9, anyone?
