rear shocks

Anyone care to recommend some rear shocks. I currently have a pair of Spax adjustables, but they are now nearly 20 years old and one is leaking.
I see Rimmers are selling some Spax and another make both adjustable...alot of money though...any other options ?

for a direct replacement and no fabing you have Koni that are internally adjustable so you have to take them off the car, GAZ which have more setting like Spax and are externally adjustible and KYB that are "self" adjusting but not a serious shock for firmness more like a cush type of shock. Personally I would go with SPAX or GAZ.

I've just fitted KYB shocks but haven't got the car on the road to test them yet. I pretty sure the UK version (sold by S & S Preparations) is a firmer ride than the soft ones sold in the USA.

There is also AVO, personally I am not keen on spax.

On My TR7 I have just fitted KYB on the front (not tried the car yet) and have AVO on the rear. Avos may not collapse enough on the rear to reach the bump stop.

KYB's front and rear with new springs etc. all from S&S Spot on fitted & driven on since just before chrismas last year would recomend.

For most people who do the same type of driving on more or less the same type of roads, externally adjustable are a waste on money since you set them and forget them.

I have KYB gas on front and Koni on the rear. Koni's were there when I bought the car and it hadn't be on the road since 1999 and they are still good.

Avo's and Spax are too long, they bottom out in the shocks, not on the bump stops.
I'd recommend Koni (obvious of course being Dutch [:D])

..oh yes Beans ... being Dutch [:p] I would like Koni red again in my TR7 were super, I had no problem to follow the Super Seven and that means something (with the exception of the brake problems which evolved)... so do you have an adresse where to get (I think Rimmer does not have anymore ?

KYBs all around here with Wedgeshop springs. Many miles on this setup and still seems fine to me. I sure wouldn't want anything firmer for the street. At least now with the roads in PA.[xx(] I've done a couple track days also and it seems to handle just fine. The tires and brakes are always the limmiting factor for me.

Contact them (Koni) directly for dealers in Switzerland.
TR7 dampers were still listed on their site at the end of last year.

Go to Canada or USA section. They list front and rear but only price on the front. They have the rear part number. Contact Koni using that part number and see what they say. You may have to contact a distributor to pick up some NOS ones.
