Actually it is OK to click on reply if your post refers to a portion of a previous post which may even be several posts back and not to the post topic in particular. Just edit out the parts which are not relevant to keep the quote short. Then a line (C/R) down start your post to separate it from the post itself and keep the quote in italics. Like this.[:)] Give it a try.
Of course if your post is a general reply to post topic then Mildred's advice is most appropriate.
