Indian Summer run anybody?

So, what’s happening on the classic car scene, especially wedge related events? Post your notices on here and let us all know about it.

Indian Summer run anybody?

Postby john » 15 Jul 2008 08:37

Samco tried to arrange something like this a couple of years ago and as he has completed his car and Cornwall is such a lovely place to visit

what about a weekend away.

surely if we spread this idea around our local clubs besides this forum, we could get enough numbers together to arrange a good deal with one of the establishments down in Newquay etc.

i'm suggesting late September early Oct time.

anybody definetly interested in this idea.

I have mentioned this to a few people... After moving house 18 months ago we now do some camping and I hope one day we can organise some classic car related camping weekends.

We are on the scenic North Devon coast approx 80 miles north of Newquay. As far as TR's are concerned profit would not be a motive! We have a basic home-made website at

http://www.croyde-bay.com/secretspot.htm

I throw this into the mix in case it's of any interest to anyone attemping to organise anything, feel free to contact me if I can be of any help.

Certainly interested in principle but of course it all depends on boring things like being able to get time off work, cost, not being already booked up in the diary and so on.

Sorry, Steve, but camping isn't for me anymore, not sure if it's cos I'm too old, too lazy or just like the comforts of a hotel rather than the tent caravan we used when the kids were growing up ;-)

Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack the idea.. just thought that since was are relatvely close together that there might be scope for expanding the idea if you get my drift..

Didn't think there was any planned hijack there Steve, just wanted to make it clear that camping isn't for me anymore. Wherever it was based I'm sure there would be a hotel nearby ;-)

Quite correct this is an idea to banter around, we just need to get behind it and make it happen,

I'm presently going to and from exeter and see loads of classic cars heading down the west for obviously weekend outings Stags, Campers, Mini club. it's a great area and would be a hoot, i'm sure it would even get the other halves approval just imaging the bar with them all comparing notes on their sad boyfriends husbands pastimes [;)]

We get to drive our cars and see some truly marvelous bays and scenery, evening could be in the bar or everyone could do there own thing and meet up for a nightcap.

it can be as formal or informal as anyone wishes, again i think if we can put this to a few clubs or local groups we could muster up eneogh to work a decent deal at a hotel or and campsite

Certainly my B&B www.metronewquay.co.uk would be available for an event and at the end of September/begining of October and we could offer rooms for £45 per room (sleeps two) per night including continental breakfast. Certainly as before I could organise a treasure hunt and try to plan some nice drives and other events. Personally I would be just as happy to go camping and am up for whatever proves to be the most popular.

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

This is a great idea John. Can I just point out that 3rd-5th October is the weekend of the Club Triumph Round Britain run. May not involve anyone on here of course.

The run does go down through Cornwall so there should be quite a few assorted Triumphs about in Cornwall, probably early Sunday morning!

Mid/late September seems cool. I would like to get down to see you
all there.Hopefully the weather will be reasonable then and we could
enjoy the beautiful scenery on those A/B roads. Hope this gathers
some momentum,count me in.

See ya. Paul

Sadly I can't make either of those dates. The September date is the same weekend as the Goodwood Revival (already have the tickets for that) and the October date, as already mentioned, is the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run and although I am not taking part in that (2000 miles in two days is just too much for me) I have volunteered to marshall.

Sorry guys - hope it goes well though.

Sunday 21st Sept is the annual Chivenor (airfield) Sprint. It's so close to me now that I've moved that last year I could hear it.
I'm hoping to enter this year, certainly wouldn't mind some company that weekend!
