On the road tomorrow!

Postby Orophin » 29 Feb 2008 13:34

I have just taken insurance out for tomorrow 1st march! It's going to be awesome! I need to wait for the Footman James to send the documents over to me so I can get tax for it asap! But hey, with insurance there i can run a little risk by taking her a few miles down the road around some quiet country lanes. [:D] I only hope the weather is there! I took these the other say after I waxed her up!

Really nice Canley fixed head - love the colour. Makes a perfect backdrop for those yellow thingies in the foreground! (Still winter up here in the frozen north!)

Hi Orophin,

Well done on the insurance, bet you cant wait to take her for a proper run.

I hope you are going to come along to some of the events this year, we are organising some great stuff as the youth of the TR Register so hope you can make it!!!

Full list of events to come, but the next big gathering for the group will be the Triumph Marque Day at Prescot in May. We are an ever growing group of young(under 35)triumph enthusiasts full details www.tr-register.co.uk.

You can tax it online as soon as it is insured without waiting on the documents to turn up they will post you a disc but it will show up as taxed instantly, the car is looking great by the way
Cheers Steve.

If it's got tits or tyres then it's gonna cost ya!

But my friend it is still illegal to not have a valid tax disc shown in the vehicle. How long does it take for the tax to come? And thanks, it is a nice car! I also have no idea how long the insurance certificate takes to come either. Weather is looking good tomorrow yet I doubt i'll be driving much [:(]

It's the same as mine!!! HAE Brooklands Green.
Your car looks great, I think the gold decals look good on the green.
Hope you enjoy driving her as much as I enjoy driving mine.

I renewed my insurance on the 'Green Monster' today on the phone.
Tried to get a tax disc from the post office, but as old insurance
is up tonight, they could not give me a disc without new certificate.
They said,as long as i am insured i have 14 days grace, for cert. to
turn up before getting disc.Hope their right, gotta mot it tommorrow!
Enjoy your wedge, its kewl, but then i am biased!!

See ya. Paul

Ahh you're wheels are golder than mine! Your car looks mint mate. But you need gold decals too! Lovely cars! Nah I don't think you are right about that, though if you've payed your tax, they would be very tight to nick you without having displayed a tax disc if u have one slightly out of date.

If you had taxed it and were only waiting on the disc "failiure to display" is a very petty thing to get tugged for , never had that problem yet[:D] PS my disc turned up the next working day
Cheers Steve

Reading your postings on Tax, Insurance and Inspection always amazes me, it sounds so bureaucratic!

Over here in Sweden most Wedges (if not all?) are taxed and insured all year round. It's not worth the ink and
stamps needed to put it on SORN (I think your British term is?) for the 8-9 months between the driving seasons.
If it's on Club insurance the annual fee is roughly GBP 41 (full coverage and unlimited mileage within the EU) and
if it's 25+ years old the annual tax is roughly GBP 3. (If it's younger the tax is roughly GBP 100-115.)
So 'why bother?' seems to be the reasoning among most of us...

(The annual inspection is the only thing we have left to do that's not easy and un-bureaucratic
- a GBP 28 "Inspection fee" and they always complain about something. This they do to 'brand new' cars as well... [}:)])

PS
The Club insurance scheme do not allow for 'everyday' use, only for 'for fun'/'hobby'/'Club event'/'Holiday trip' etc use.
You have to have a normally insured everyday car to be allowed to have the Club insurance.
