Henk-I have the "German" style top,but mine is from SnugTop of Long Beach,CA. It has a small metal plate on the inside above the driver side window with a serial number. In a few old Motor Trend or Road and Track magazines,I have seen the ad for this company and their hardtops. I have it on the car now,and have been driving it as weather permits. It is fully lined with white vinyl,and padded or stitched in vertical lines,and uses two latches where the soft top latches in the front,and two plates,which attach where the hinge is just behind each door window. Where the gas cap is,it is slightly indented,as if to clear it. You can take the cap off easily though.

Paul-LOVE the prototype you're working on! Almost a hint of Cadillac XLR with that back window thing,plus more visibility. I would have never looked at a Sunbird/Cavalier and arrived at the same point you did. (I would assume you'd just find a rusted FHC and remove the top from it,since you know the proportions would be accurate/less work.)
Tim from the group does wonders with fiberglass,you guys should chat and combine your talents-the results would be awesome!

I bought mine on eBay as well,had to drive nearly to Quebec to get it!

Never knew there where so much types of hardtops.
There are here not so many, mostly Lenham tops.

TR8-That was great!
Mine is exactly like the first pic (the red car),has a raised section in the middle.
Ron-I'm trying to remember,it was about a year ago. I know it was a looong drive! They guy I bought it off of had two TR7s,one was red.
Jclay-I didn't think they still made the tops either. The ads I remember were from the early 80's. There is actually a place here in Pennsylvania,a little ways from Pittsburgh that makes hardtops for various small cars (MG,Miata,Triumphs) that I stumbled across in a search,but if I remember,they were at or above $1000[:0]

There were three that I know. Parish Hardtops, Smoothline, and Regal. I think they all made the rounded type.

Has anyone ever attempted to motorise their hood or (somewhat ambitiously) to convert a Mercedes SLK/Peugeot 206-style disappearing roof?
