Hard Top

Postby RJS » 17 Jan 2008 16:16

Is this a Leahman hard top? I had seen a Leahman in the past, and I liked them, but I don't think I like the looks of this one.

Certanly looks like one bloody fugly thing

Never did like the so called after market hard top idea. always seemed to be plain and simple with no real thought going into it's design. but hey ho each to their own

The name is actually Lenham and, yes, it is, I have one as well. I will entirely agree it is one heck of an ugly roof but is extremely useful when your second TR7 has to sit outside and has a buggered soft top.

There are three or four different designs of hardtop available for the TR7 convertable, to be honest, I don't like any of them but they do have there uses sometimes.

Regards

Gary

This German hardtop is more a FHC, disadvantage here are no rear quarters.

It has always amazed me that Triumph made such a perfect factory hardtop for the TR-6 and they didn't follow suit for the TR-7. They could have had some very nice add on sales with those!

Is it just the dark photo or does it not clear the filler cap?!

The TR7 soft top is the best looking soft top (Triumph) made. Don't know why all the other hard tops are ugly.

I had seen that ad for the German hardtop before. I had in my mind that it was the Lenham top, but I was very wrong.

I do really like the looks of the German top. It gives the car similar lines to the DHC. Does anyone out there have one?

I have a Lenham hard top for my TR7 - bought in London when the car was new in 1981 by the original owner. It looks a little bit like the one shown but is nowhere near as ugly. Mine is similar to the Spitfire 4 hardtop in shape and it has opening rear quarter windows and a heated rear screen. I have a rear window switch in my drophead which raises some comments occasionally. The hardtop has been sprayed to match the car and it looks OK when on. I dont use it much because I didnt buy a drophead to drive it with the roof up.

Still standing !
