Servicing parts. Where can I get them from?

I'd like to give my new car a full service, since it's been left in a warehouse for 6 six years. What would you advise me to replace and where would I get it all from? And how much roughly would it cost. I need a new distributor btw, and new silcone leads would be nice.

Robsport ([url]www.robsport.co.uk), S&SPreparations ([url]www.ss-preparations.co.uk[/url]) or Rimmer Brothers (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk) all do excellent parts services, Robsport do an excellent next day despatch service, S&S can be a little slower at despatch and Rimmers are generally more expensive. They all do all parts and service items and each do good catalogues although Rimmers is the best book around.

General service items, oil, filter, air filter, plugs, points, leads, cap and rotor arm should be around £60ish plus postage.

A new distributor wont be cheap but both Robsport and S&S do quality secondhand parts. They also come up on Ebay from time to time. I got a new old stock distributor off ebay for about £12.00 though that was very lucky!

I very much doubt you will need a whole new dizzy - just put new points/condenser/rotor arm and cap on the one you have - but maybe it's been converted to electronic? And fit new spark plugs - possibly with new leads if you really want them, although they usually last a long time!
Otherwise - change oil and filter, and drain and flush the cooling system and refill with the correct % of good quality antifreeze. Look at the water hoses to see if they need changing - and a new fan belt would likely be a good idea.
Drain /refill the gearbox and the rear axle - and attend to the brakes - probably a good idea to bleed new fluid through them (and the clutch) while you are at it.
And - inspect the tyres carefully - they may have developed cracks if the car's been standing on them in the one spot for 6 years!

Mahle/knecht do excellent filters if you can find a supplier locally.

As well as all the advice above i'd drain any old petrol and check the tank and fuel lines for leaks and be careful when firing it up for the first time.
