I was at the Haynes museum

Hi all
As title said I was at the Haynes museum today, as it is normally over 400 miles from my house, I am down here on holiday in Bath, my good lady thought it was to good an opportunity to go.

So we went today, and yes there was a TR8 but it had I think a Mark Grinnall conversion to a 2+2, do we know anything about this car ?
I also note it had an unusual T Bar roll bar ( i am thinking this was to add strenth that was lost woth the 2+2 conversion?

Also as i was driving into Bath i seen a Gold DHC, a few days later seen it again as i was on a bus and managed a quick photo.

Is it anybody on here?

Hi, looks similar to the T bar arrangement on the Broadside in the Gaydon collection.

1980 TR7 drophead now repainted and started refitting plus V8 upgrade
1977 TR7 fixedhead awaiting restoration
1981 TR7 drophead bodywork and mechanicals now done, completing trim currently.

Not a very elegant solution, rusty bolt heads sticking out of the top.

Whilst l agree to it being inelegant, I’d like to think that the bolt heads weren’t rusty when new! :lol:

The T would be very useful in a TR7/8 convertible. It is a very flexible motorcar.

Apply 300 BHP to the rear of the thing & you can see the back of the passenger door drop a little below it's static shut line. I have no doubt the drivers door is raised at the rear.

My son tells me when I go "finish" he will transfer all the performance gear from the 8 to the 7 fixed head, which could handle the torque more easily.
