New Historic status V5 received plus the Heritage Certificate returned and a cheque for £90 refund together with a nice letter from the DVLA saying my car is taxed!

Glad it's sorted dursleyman. My experience was that once you find out the detail of the rules and follow them to the letter and are patient it is pretty painless, but not for those in a hurry.

Isn't tax evasion wonderful :D
I have an aversion to paying road tax so daily driver - Kia e-Niro along with solar panels, sorted. Recent petrol delivery problems no big issue for me at least.
Until TR gets low of course.

Just renewed my £0.00 :D Historic vehicle road tax for the first time.

It took less than 30 seconds on line, only had to use the vehicle tax reminder received in the post.

Once we have a certain spell of good weather, I’ll take it for a extended run up to the MOT station close to where Robsport used to be based.

Out of curiosity, does renewing tax online cater for MOT exemption as well?

Well, prior to historic status, the car not me, I needed a valid MOT to obtain the car tax online. This time around and with a lapsed MOT it went through immediately.

Curious, I thought form V112 - declaration of exemption from MOT would be required?

once the car has historic status It’s automatically exempt from requiring an MOT.

Unless there are modifications that require an ongoing valid MOT certificate.

I had sent a V112 with the documents for registering as 'Historic' status although not sure if it was required. When renewing the tax on line this year it just said 'MOT not required' on the renewal page.

My 1981 registered car was MOT'd & taxed (paid for) when I applied for historic status last year. Sent copy of heritage certificate, showing build as 1980, V5 with change filled in & covering letter to DVLA. 5½ weeks later new V5 drops through letter box then cheque for tax refund. So was just unsure & curious about renewal procedure. Was under impression (wrongly it seems) that V112 would be required at every renewal.
Every day's a school day.
Thanks for info guys :)
