Float chamber vent hose connection TR7-fi

Hello,

Question, where is the second connection at the FI-engine ?
Has anyone a picture ?
Can this missing hose have caused the problem with the
oil in the airhose ?

Any oil will be coming from the engine breather from your camshaft cover, which should be plumbed to your charcoal canister, & then to your inlet manifold.

On my 4.6L injected V8 it is plumbed direct from the rocker cover to the inlet throttle body.

Thanks for your response Hasbeen,
i'm going to check all connections between the
airfilter and the air intake and also the camshaft
cover.
There must be one without or with wrong connection.
In the past the car was running without the connection,
at least nearly two years ago. But it never run perfectly.
Maybe FI-Spider has an answer ?

Hello together,

i haven`t found a missing connection to the charcoal canister.
How does this look at your FI-engines ?
Did you ever check the charcoal canister in the enginebay ?

Sorry roger, my 4.6l has not had a charcoal canister in my ownership. Probably removes by the shop that fitted the 4.6.

Early in my ownership of the 7, I found the charcoal canister over half full of a mixture of oil & petrol. I chucked it out.

The tank breather is plumbed to a carb, the engine breather direct to the manifold, & the SU float boll breathers to waste.

Yes, it's very confusing but on the dual charcoal cannister on an FI, that doesn't go anywhere. A more elegant solution than that shown is, I put on a rubber cap of proper size to block it.

Did you check the BL parts manual?

thanks for your reply. :) Also for the reply of Hasbeen. :) I only have some several workshop manuals.
I will try to get one. I also hoped to get some reply from TR7-fi-drivers. They only need to take
a look under the bonnet.
I haven*t check the both charcoal canister and connected tubes/hoses for oil, yet. This i will do
this weekend.
Now i have a another special question for using the wolfrace-wheels. What kind of shape does the wheelnuts
have ? Do they have a cone or ball shape ?

Look into the stud/lug holes in the wheels.......do they have a counterbored, spherical or conical seat?

Wolfrace wheel bolts are a bit of a mixed bag!
To start with you have conical shaped load bearing washers that are a very snug fit inside their recess'
Than you have a shaft nut with something resembling a tapered seat, see picture blow

Hello Beans,

thanks very much for your proposal. :D I´ve just ordered a set of wheelnuts.
In my search i haven`t found this site. The surface of the tapered seat was to small to
determine the shape of the nuts. The washers are sitting really very snug.
I suppose they were pressed in the bore ? The wheels i have need a new paint.
I won´t take the washers out for repaint/respray. This is another job to do when
the car is on the road again.

Maybe it's for breathing the canisters.
I will check if there is pressure or a vacuum
when the engine runs again. It should be a
closed circulation.

That's right, a closed system, to prevent vapours escaping into the atmosphere (emissions). I think it's the way it is because the charcoal cannister is one from other applications and they don't need the extra vent so they cap it and that makes it look like it's incomplete.
