10 years older, not much wiser !

Postby paul w » 24 Jun 2019 19:01

Hey Guys, remember me ? Well, I'm back in the land of the 'Wedge'. A lot of water has passed under the bridge of life for me, but I still have my cars, the 2 ltr auto dhc and the 'Green Monster'. Got the auto back on the road last year, started 1st time on 9 year old petrol, sailed through the mot with advisories for new tyres ( perished ) and thin brake pads, but of course, having driven it a bit, I've had to spend some moolah on several mechanical issues, but nothing too demanding - allways 'sump'thing to do ! Godzilla is a slumbering beast. Ive tried poking it with sharp sticks which gets the beast riled for a few seconds, but ultimately still in hibernation. Needs work on the electronic ignition as its burning out modules.
Met up with Phill H last week for a chat and lust after the new leather and alcantara interior he's had installed to his red wedge - really kewl !
Managed to see John 215 at Bobsport on Sat. Arrived unfashionably late, missed the eats and most of the other wedgeheads that attended.
Hope you are all well on the forum, looks like I got a decade of catching up to do.
Cheers, Paul.
See ya', Paul.

WELL HELLO !!!!!

Hi Paul, so glad to hear from you, John had told me you had surfaced.

I hear you are still doing the trucking and the guitars, It would be good if you could make Gaydon in a couple of weeks
I understand you are still working nights though.

Hi Paul, great to have you back. The forum needs some of the old blood back.

My 7 still has the steering wheel you sent me all those years back, but it doesn't get twirled around as much as it used to.

Glad you're no wiser, it would be a shame to get sensible at our ages.

Is Godzilla the one with a 5 litre Rover under the bonnet ? Ex TVR, down at the Ace many years ago.

Hi there, 'Bushey',
Think I remember you, Adam ? Dark blue TR7 V8 ?
The monster is an RPI built 4.6 and I recall it got called 'ASBO' by the register because I ruined their front row of old bangers !
Glad to see your still around mate.

Yes, good to see you back.

The wedge is showing its age around the edges, a bit like myself

Just passed its MOT down at Drayton Garage, a short distance away from where Robsport used to be.

Struth! a blast from the past.
I thought you must've stood too hard on the right pedal and launched both you and the green monster into space!

Good to see you up and running again Paul, Farmer Allan had said he had seen your cars about. Shame we missed you at Robsport the other weekend.
I am going to Gaydon on the Sunday if you want to go up together.

Cheers

G'Day Cobber, birminghamtr7, IanFtr8. Hope you are all doing good.
Ian, I am hoping to go up on the Saturday in the auto for the day and possibly on the Sunday in the V8 if I get it running/mot'd/serviced/cleaned and happy that its ready for its first long run in a decade. Have to let you know if the monster looks like its gonna make it before the weekend.
Who else on here is going ?
See ya', Paul.
