Merry Christmas.

Postby Hasbeen » 20 Dec 2018 02:38

It's about that time to wish you all a very merry Christmas, & a happy & prosperous new year.

Not so many of us left these days with a TR7 sized place in our lives. However for any of the old gang still lurking, a merry Christmas to you too, & my commiserations that you are no longer seven mounted. I hope you can still manage a happy new year.

… and the same to you, the old and to the new owners of the 'shape of thing to come' - may your Christmas be fun and your present wedgey shaped!

I wrote this poem before Christmas, 2006, the first year I bought my TR7 Spider. The front end would have been dismantled to paint and replace shocks, springs, tie rod ends and ball joints and all rubber. Interior out to refoam heater and clean all electrical connections under dash. I remember there was snow on the ground (rare) and we were looking after a friend's cat as well as our own two.

Twas the fortnight before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a computer mouse;
The TR7 was resting on blocks set with care,
In hopes that winter's projects would make summer driving so fair;
Thought the kittens were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of tuna dancing in their heads;
Mamma in her sweater, I by the fire,
Had just settled down to await weather dryer;
When out on the balcony arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what's the matter.
Away to the french doors, but what did appear,
Three cats in the snow, playing with green boughs don't you know;
I whistled and shouted and called them by name;
"In Kali, in Kolie, in Seth, it's too cold for a game",
Covered in snow, from their head to their feet;
They head to the food dish, for something to eat.
Time to bed to dream of presents for the Spider,
Maybe knee pads or filters or tires that are wider.
As my head was starting to give a nod,
I remembered to utter to make it all right,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Have the festivities started already in Oz Hasbeen? :lol:

I think there are more about than you might imagine going by the FB group, and they seem to be getting more popular. Unfortunately my 7 shaped space is under a cover in the driveway and the weather is not conducive to working on it in the UK.

Merry Christmas to all from Kent, have a great break. :)
