I converted my 7 to V8 close to 30 years ago using a Kit from S and S. All the components apart from the mild steel exhaust system are still on the car.
Their TR7V8 subframe was a modified 2 litre item giving more engine to bonnet clearance than the original item without resorting to spacers under the chassis rails to clear SU carbs. I don't know the measurements that would tell them apart.
Additionally their kits included mild steel tubular manifolds which are still going strong. If you have cast iron Rover SD1 exhaust manifolds fitted then you may have a Grinnall conversion like my pal used to have.
Steve from S and S pops up on the forum every now and again so may be able to point towards distinguishing features on their parts.
