New would be better, but a used one is also good.
I know there are fiber ones available but i'd rather have a proper metal one.

Do you actually need a complete wing because the patch panels for these are fairly significant? We will be having new (better fitting) replacement wings manufactured but they will be a few panels down the line as we're targetting the headlamp panel first and then probably the rear light cluster panel which hasn't been available for as long as I can remember.

Hi John, great news that new panels are in the pipeline. I was dismayed to recently read that British Motor Heritage (or should that read British Anti Motor Heritage) were scrapping the tooling for TR7 front wings, presumably as they were not seen as a profitable line worth supporting the cost of tooling upkeep. I was lucky to source a new nose panel from Robsport for my drophead refurb not that long ago. My old fixed head is still sitting in a lockup awaiting an eventual restoration and numerous panels will be required so good to hear that someone is on the case.

This is going to take some time Rich but while we're dealing with the nose panel and the rear light cluster panel we will be scouring the world for the oldest, original, never been on a car front wings to work as a pattern. All the end products should be better (but more expensive of course) than the ill fitting panels being offered by BMH from the knackered press tools they had persevered with for so long. But we do think these press tools were scrapped around ten years ago, they just didn't tell anyone.

If anyone wants to contribute to the TR7 tooling fund project being run by the TR Drivers Club then please let me know as the more people who get involved the quicker we can rectify the situation.

Hi John, I only fitted a new LH wing on my drophead earlier in the year. I had been storing this panel since about 1995!
What the hell were BMH doing? There must have been decent demand for wings 10 years ago. If they did scrap the tooling that long ago without telling anyone then someone there needs shooting. What a bunch of idiots (polite version for public consumption). How much are we talking to fund new tooling? I suspect many thousands of pounds. I would be happy to contribute if it is a realistic goal as I am sure others would be too. What we could really do with is a rich benefactor who shares our devotion to our wedges.

I'll answer this on the relevant thread in the New Parts & Commisions Rich. But yes, it is going to be a fairly expensive undertaking but there are enough of us in the TRDC determined to make it happen.
