Replacing DHC glass felt channel.

On the way back from passing this year's MOT, the driver's glass felt runner - XKC3011 - disappeared in to a pool of cavity wax at the bottom of the door. Lots of doorglass rattles gave that one away.

The felt runner had one small factory rivet at the top but the felt had ripped around it letting it slide off. Its back in position, courtesy of some evo contact adhesive.

if it doesn't hold, has anyone tried riveting a new felt runner in place? I've heard the current replacements are a different profile and difficult to fit.

Been ten years since I put new ones in (I thought they were just pressed in as they both where sitting in the bottom of the door). I'm sure I contact cemented them in although now I would use a couple dabs of trim adhesive.

Yes, I recall replacing one of mine some years ago and it was just a friction fit. Don't recall there being a rivet there.

This is also a common thing on my Saabs. I just use a contact adhesive on the back of the felt and the some silicon spray in the felt channel to ease the movement of the window.

It looks like the rivet holding the glass drop guide at the top also located the felt guide. There's a distinct circular hole in the felt followed by a rip to the end where it finally let go. A couple of blobs of contact adhesive are holding well at the moment

Has anyone put extra plastic sheeting behind the door card for extra protection? The original stuff on mine is looking a little brittle? I would post up a photo but imgur is proving temperamental.

Only friction and a little bit of contact adhesive (just to be sure) holding mine in.
