J Clay R.I.P.

Hi,

Some of you may have heard via social media already but for those who have not, the TR world lost a true gent this morning by the name of Clay Thompson, he passed away in his hospital room after a long and courageous fight with bad health. He was a true TR7 / 8 enthusiast and had a wealth of knowledge on our cars. He also helped Ron and myself run this forum in its old format and was invaluable in that role.

I know some of the newer members may not know of him, but those of who did it was a pleasure. My thoughts are with his wife Edna and family.

RIP mate and see you on the other side.

Such sad news, our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.

I (like I should imagine others), got to know of Clay’s knowledge and love for our cars through his very helpful “How To” site. I found these guides particularly useful as the topics covered were both insightful and very detailed. I personally love photos that help explain what to do and Clay’s covered everything you needed for a step by step guide. Hopefully these guides will be a reminder of his knowledge and passion.

Go sort out some TR’s up there mate .

I remember him well from the old forum and was wondering the other day what had happened to all the useful guides and information he posted on line.

May he rest in peace & hopefully heaven will have a nice rust free TR7 for him to enjoy in his next life

I "spoke" to him a few times via the forum and he was always very helpful and a proper gentleman. I kept a couple of his original user guides and shared them with a few other folks who needed them. We will all miss him and be poorer for his passing. RIP Clay

Sad news indeed, the strange thing is that I was thinking about him a week or so ago, I was wondering how he was getting on. Definitely not the answer I was hoping for.

Just got back from the other side of the world to read this, very sad. Clay was a very helpful bloke with a great library of 'How to's'. It would be marvellous if these could be obtained and saved on the forum in his name somehow. He even set up my avatar (preferring a US background to a Kentish garden!). RIP Clay and condolences to his family.

I echo your comments everyone, Clay was a fellow enthusiast and great exponent of the TR7, what greater accolade could we give a friend who shared our passion!
