Cruise light metal electric pins

On my rear side lights the metal connectors on the light housing have broken off. The little plastic nipple has broken so my metal clip is loose on the housing. yes when the bulb holder is put in, it does hold it in place.

However, I want to fix this as the rest of the side light and housing is fine. I was thinking I can glue the metal flip on or try to melt back on with the little bit of plastic there is. Has anyone had to fix the pin back to there side light housing and if you did how did you do it? Also thought that a plastic welder may help.

Could you not use a soldering iron to melt the plastic to reattach the connector. After all it's only a matter or heating the plastic just enough to melt a small piece.

If the plastic is broken but the break is clean (not in little pieces), this is how we fixed parts in the office product industry. Glue plastic part with crazy glue. Let sit 24 hours (preferably and to be on the safe side). Reinforce with 2 part 5 minute epoxy. Let sit for another 24 hours (to err on safe side). I've also used this method to repair unlikely parts like the door light retaining arms that still hold ten years later (also reinforced with zip tie ends). Sometimes parts can be reinforced with metal rod/wire etc.

I've used little self tapping screws to fix them.

Epoxy resin glue would be more than adequate to hold these in place. There is a locating tag on the plastic light unit and a corresponding hole in the metal strip so after making sure the area to which the glue is applied is clean it would be quite easy to clamp them down (ensuring the plastic housing is adequately protected and that too much pressure is not applied) whilst the glue dried and fully set. I am sure this would achieve a stronger than original bond. supercass
