Headlamp

Nearly there with the re build of tr7 convertible 1980.I have a problem with the N/S headlamp.O/S going up and down fine.N/S not lifting but lights working.Swapped relays and its not those.Taken the motor out and wired it to the O/S wiring and it is working.It therefore is something to do with the Ns wiring or something in the loom which is not allowing power through to unit.Checked the fuses and its not that.Is there something else specific to each side that could be faulty.

Check and clean the red connector in the engine bay. :)

I believe there are four wires each side (engine bay), do all four/eight
. Never do just half a job.

The two single wires control up/ down,check those.Steve.

in addition to the red connector blocks, clean the green gunge off the headlamp switch contacts and all the connector blocks and earth connections in between........

I've had to do this for the windscreen wiper by cleaning every contact from wiper switch to motor and earth. I thought the motor was on its last legs, nope, just poor connections from first to last.

If the the above remedies fail check the block connectors that sit on top of the heater assembly underneath the middle of the dash..... a couple of hours here fixed mine plus a few other electrical niggles.
1978 TR7 FHC 4.0 Toyota V8
1979 TR7 DHC 5.7 Chevy V8
1980 TR7 FHC 2.0
1981 TR7 DHC (not decided yet)

Thanks for all the help regarding headlamps.I am just about to check the continuity from the relay to the connectors behind the light.Interesting about the block connectors over heater unit.I will give them a check.Thanks again.

Don't forget the earth point behind each headlamp (actually the mounting bolt for the horns).
Usually hidden from view by the connectors. Here just visible to the left of the connectors.

what kind of Connector did you use there looks like Ford or something ?

Or did you made an new Wiring Loom with this connetor ?
