Help - Does anyone have any pictures of a lowered floorpan

Hi,

I have a FHC rally body shell with a fabricators at the moment and I thought I would take the opportunity to have the floor pan lowered (so I can lower the seats) as I am long in the back - this is in accordance with the works shells so I understand. Does anyone have any pictures of the areas that need modifying. I have external photos - see attached photos but I do not have any of the inside floor pan to see what other modifications are required. Thanks in advance.

Can't help you with pictures.
But whatever you do remember that the longitudinal box section for the outside seat mounting points also acts as a strengthener for the lower back axle pick-up points.

Thanks for the response Beans - I understand what you are saying and it worries me a bit as without removing or at least reducing the longitudinal box section height it will be impossible to lower the seats any further than they already are. I may have to leave the floor pan until I fully understand how they managed this in the past. Thanks.

Michael Perkins would probably have some pictures from his rally car build. I am pretty sure that I got some from him showing the inboard seat mounts that were dropped below the floor level (but sadly cannot find them on this computer). If you need contact info, let me know.

Hi Paul, Yes I have that picture. The problem is I don't have pictures of what is done on the side closest to the sills. I am sure I will have to remove the longitudinal box section but as Beans states I may have to do something to strengthen the area. If you have Micheal Perkins contact details that would be great as it would be very useful to discuss the matter with someone that has done this before. Thanks

Just looking at the picture, the reinforcements tied into the roll cage in that area that can be seen should be more than enough to compensate for the floor rib.

He did, but he has/had a ton of pictures of Group 44 and rally cars. Hopefully he still has them.

Good point, didn't think of that. I have asked the guys to give me a price for fitting the lower tube amongst some other things. Once fitted I can weld strengthening pieces on to that.

But it will move the seats forward a wee bit
