PTFE tape on coolant sensor thread

Postby UKPhilTR7 » 26 Oct 2016 01:45

I will be replacing the hoses and coolant sensor on my tr very soon. I have the bits needed, just waiting for some precious time. I was thinking of putting some PTFE tape on the sensor thread to stop the chance of any leaks. With the high temperature is this a good idea and has anyone done this before?

Terminology disconnect. Coolant sensor refers to the sensor in the brass tank (doesn't have any threads) so I'm assuming you mean temperature sensor in the engine (which does have threads). I think the sensor has to be grounded so you would not be able to have tape on threads. If the threads in engine are OK you shouldn't have leak especially with the gasket.
