TR7 BODY NUMBER / VIN NUMBER

Postby Neil m » 22 Sep 2016 11:16

Hi
I am a new member of the forum and need some help. I have recently completed the restoration of my late fathers TR8 project.
Does anyone have a cross reference list of Body Number to Vin/Chassis number.
I have the original body number on the car but the vin number has been lost along with the V5 document
The DVLA seem reluctant to send out a new replacement V5 without me knowing the vin number and its driving me nuts The car is finished MOTd and insured and I cannot use it without any TAX
The car has been within our family for more than 25 years I know the paperwork was originally correct (numbers matching)
Regards

Neil

rugbyref1 I'm interested what the link is as I understood all documented research suggests no obvious link between VIN and body number. although you would typically expect a rough chronological sequence. Does the body number routinely appear on a Heritage certificate? Regards,

there is no correlation at all ....

Body numbers are recorded on about 85% of the build cards and therefore on the Heritage Certificate

sorted .... another VIN and car reunited :)

This is a series 2 TR7 (1977 for a 1978 build), originally tahiti but now a slightly deeper shade of blue ... engine has been changed to V8

Most will know i like originality but if you are going to modify cars then this is the way to do it, i.e. very well and not to one with high historical significance!
