Removing Waxoyl underseal

Postby Bobbieslandy » 28 Aug 2016 11:14

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Two wheel arches down, one that's pretty much 'there' and thankfully the n/s rear has none on it. White spirit, degreasant, scraper, heat gun, filthy, horrible disgusting job. I am never ever going to use it again, fingers crossed this 'Epoxy mastic' paint does the job!

I used Jotun epoxy mastic on the grit blasted underside, but then followed it with Dynax wax of some sort and 3years later it looks OK still. The suspension components that were done at the same timewith the same paint are exhibiting some signs or rust, perhaps insufficient film thickness?.Good painting,Steve.

Cheers Steve. I've had the back axle and trailing arms plascoated, hopefully they'll be ok. It seems that we either get the shell dipped and coated or spend our lives chasing the rust.
