I should have said that the holes are reall smallm- maybe 2mm or so.

Ive already read loads of stuff on the net about various approaches, but as per usual confusion reigns !!!

Ive left it alone tonight so i can calm down!!!!

Despite reading all the instructions about stowing the hood ive never really got it down in such a way that the hood cover will fit properly as well. - frustrating

It all depends on where it is, because they are so small, i would try heating them with a hair drier till soft, press the edges to make hole smaller , then use a small drip ( tiny bit )of epoxy glue ( like araldite ) just to fill hole.

but we would need to see it first
If it's not broke don't fix it.

A vinyl repair kit should work. Not that easy to achieve a professional finish so for about £30 you may be able to get an expert to come and repair it. supercass

PS. If the holes are symmetrical it might be possible to glue and sew a coupe of patches in and make them look like they were always there! supercass

Vinyl can be welded (by professionals) and you won't be able to see where the cut was.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't form a hard spot in the hood. If you do the flexing will all be localised & the repair edge will crack sooner or later.

My son poked 2 holes with the frame, in a near new mohair hood, folding it badly, before reading the instructions. We took it to a good trimmer who sewed patches on the inside. They are now getting tired, but it is 12 years later.

If a vinyl hood, I'd try some of the adhesive used to repair swimming pool liners, & a small piece of vinyl, on the inside. That stuff has to handle full sun, & remain flexible for years.

I don't know how that would happen unless like you say it inadvertently got caught in the frame some where. My original hood 36 years old still looks like new including clear vinyl windows although I think it has shrunk a bit and is a bit stiffer. I don't know how it would hold up (probably depending on it's position and stresses at that position) but for worn spots in the vinyl floor and back covering in the trunk I used a vinyl repair kit. Also used the kit on the Tercel door cards were there was a split. It comes in various colours and you mix it to get the other colours. I matched the tan of the Tercel fine but the TR7 was easier (straight black :P ). I don't think they cost much (I bought it many years ago). You just apply it then cure it with a iron (or heat gun) that heats the included metal stamping tool. The professionals have an electric heated tool.
