New brake lines

Postby UKPhilTR7 » 14 Mar 2016 01:38

I am looking at overhauling my entire brake system. This mean new wheels, callipers and servo. I have the new wheels (15 inch MGF). So now I can fit the upgraded brakes, that do not fit on the standard 13 inch rims. I will be looking at getting the other two bits as soon as I can.

When I do the overhaul, this will be an ideal time to look at the brake-lines them self. At the moment, there are the old copper lines on my car. I see that you can get replacement copper lines.

I was just wondering if there are any other options out there such as stainless steel lines. If so has anyone fitted them and where did you get them from?

Hi Phil,

A lot of guy's over in the US use stainless tubing for there brake pipes, we tend to favour copper alloy over here. Stainless can be tougher to work with in that you need a good quality flaring tool and pipe bender, never seen a ready made stainless kit for ' our ' cars either, hopefully someone who has used it will give you a better insight.

Would recommend stainless flex hoses though such as Aero Quip or Goodridge.

Cheers John
