Green Tartan Material

Too many people duplicate work that others already have done ... if you're having something remade then tell us about it! Success and Disasters, they are all useful to know about!

You'll all need to make contact with Steve Bishop. Drop me a line and I'll pass his contact details onto you. Steve joined the TR Drivers Club mainly on the back of getting this done so he's a good man in my book. We need more people like him prepared to invest simply to make things happen. Dr. Christopher is another and he's looking into the red tartan.

I believe the green was done by House of Tartan following all the conversation on this thread.

John.

The material being produced is woven whereas the original was printed .... the pattern i have seen so far is acceptable although both the colour and dimensions are not perfect ... but it is not overtly obvious to the untrained eyes.

You sure about that.
That's who I started contacting a couple years ago and sent them a sample earlier this year.
You would have thought they would have said something

It was a private commission so they wouldn't be able to announce anything. But it is done and as Christopher says it's not an exact reproduction but it is very, very close. If anyone does want material to restore their knackered seats and door cards then I can put you in touch.

AHA
Just received a note back from Alan at House of Tartan

"I have emailed you several times but they keep getting either returned as undeliverable or not answered.

We had a CAD made up and had threads to send you but didn't have any details to post to.

Then someone else came along asking about the same tartan so we sent him the CAD he liked it and went ahead with a weave of 19 metres.

He went for a darker green compared to the green in your door sample.

So if you get back to me we can send you the CAD and sample or if you know who the guy is I think he is trying to sell off as much of the fabric as he can so am sure he will sell you some metres of it."

So he stole my work... :D :P
I responded with my apologies to the internet snafu and asked to see his cad drawing.

Does anyone know where/who this eBay listing has come from? I have a large sample from the 19 metres off the House of Tartan product and it does look a lot better than the eBay photo - but that could just be a poor quality photo.

I suggested House of Tartan to the TRDC member because of this thread. When I was approached I went through everything on this thread with him. This is a big advantage with a forum over a Facebook group because I would never have been able to find the discussion again in a FB group.

For those that don't follow FaceBook
Here is a pic of the materials
Previously made material by Steve Bishop on the left and the one I plan on doing on the right sitting on top of my new door card

Don's attempt is a damn sight closer than the previous ones .. one of the common misconceptions is that the original material was woven ... it wasn't, it was printed. This accounts for the problems people have encountered with getting the correct colour and pattern.

Hi Don

Yes I want it brighter not as dark as the pattern to the left of the door card "post above" - if you do so I am agree for it .. it must be intense - because the sun anyway (on the Convertible) the fabric fading will !

I prefer to wait - I would like that it fits well into my new Door cards (with tolerance, of course)

So, I look forward to your result

Happy new Year Frank

Grüezi,
Frank
The mill is closed till Jan 5.
I think they will be sending threads for me to OK and then it will take about 3 months to produce.

They are sending me thread sample to OK
Since it is across the pond, all correspondence with sample takes a while

Still moving forward
