I love this car.

Postby Hasbeen » 19 Dec 2015 09:43

My Ford/Mercury Capri has dropped it's alternator, so the good cars are getting some work. Took the S2K yesterday. It is a great fun car, but not the nicest in traffic.

Of course my traffic is not that bad, but 5 in line behind a slow truck at 80 Km/H, or a lady towing a horse float is not somewhere it shines.

Today I knew the parking would be safe, so took the 7. After about 3 weeks of sitting in the shed in 90+ F. the front tyres had some pretty severe flat spots. It took about 5 miles on pretty hot bitumen for them to smooth out, but then, I couldn't stop smiling. Even stuck in a similar conga line, behind something slow, the car is still a joy. The steering is just perfect, the engine sings, & the ride is great.

I won't park this one in shopping centres these days. I think I may have to buy one with a rough paint job, so I am happy using it as a daily driver. It is crazy to drive something I don't really enjoy, when I could enjoy every drive.

I park further away in the parking lot. I have to walk farther but it's good exercise, something i don't have time for up to now. Less chance of getting dinged but can still happen.

I feel sorry for you winter bound folk, with your cars locked away for months.

I had a great run yesterday, although it may have been too hot with out the air conditioning, at about 32 C & not a cloud in the sky. Our sun can get a bit fierce.

A bunch of us from a local car forum had lunch in a country town, about 140 kilometres from the city. A perfect run for me, with just about all of my trip on good lightly used country back roads, & a short bit down the highway.

Front gate to front gate was 320 Kilometres, & the little lady sang all the way. I did have a little trouble straightening the knees when getting out at the end, but the drive was pure joy.

Talk about a Christmas treat!

Merry Christmas all, & a happy new years Triumph driving.

In this part of Canada we can drive year round just like golfing (although with top up for winter driving except for the hardy). It's a good time to get projects done for the fairer weather. That being said, the Spider is sitting outside under a car cover, tarp and the balcony lean to while I do rust restoration on the Tercel 4WD (those Japanese cars were real rust buckets).
