If your vinyl one lasted that long, & you were happy with the look of it, I think the choice is obvious. I have a vinyl hood on my Capri, treated with Armorial it is very shiny. Some have said it looks tizzy, but I quite like it, & that is what counts.
The Honda S2000 is double duck, [I think that is thick closely woven canvas], & it is attractive & waterproof. The car is parked hood up in the sun reasonably regularly, & does not appear to mind.
The 8 has mohair, about the same age as the Hondas hood. It has rarely seen the sun or rain. However when I was caught in a heavy storm, every seam ran water like a sieve immediately. Within an hour, most of the hood was soaked & it was almost as wet inside the car as out.
My auto trimmer waxed the seams which fixed them, but made the areas shinny, & came up with a US waterproof spray called 303 waterproof hood treatment which has done the job. Unfortunately it is a strange sort of shiny too, but better than a wet bum.
I'd go for the vinyl or the double duck. Neither look quite as good as mohair, but do a better job in my experience.
