Cadwell Track session 24th August 2015

Postby claypole1360 » 23 Aug 2015 10:35

I've fixed my clutch and am booked into Cadwell tomorrow evening for a track day. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience based nuggets that they could pass on. I have already booked tuition at the track.
Cheers Calvin
By the way, I will be sick of the sight of Clios by the end of the evening.

Track session completed, despite a big sideways moment in the rain, the car is back in one piece having performed faultlessly.

Hi Claypole,

What's involved with a track day at Cadwell? I've never done anything like that before.

Rob.

Hi Rob, pay up in advance over t'internet, you can get helmet hire, pay for passengers, extra drivers or tuition(very worthwhile). Turn up on the date and drive.
Open pit Lane for me, go out when you want during the session and drive to your heart's content.
I kept it to around about 20 minute sessions out of mechanical sympathy and personal well being, but it was chucking it down and I was really concentrating.
You get days which are exactly that or the cheaper option of a 2 1/2 hour session in the summer evening light. Some guy had done 60 odd Laps during the day, which is some going. Any other q's please ask. Calvin.

Thanks Calvin,

I completely understand about keeping the sessions down, from what i've read a track day plays hell with your car, it's bad enough on the roads

Once mine is on the road and has had a few thousand miles on the clock, i'll have to give it a go. I'll post on here beforehand incase anyone else wants to join me.

Btw, that bonnet scoop really suits your car, i'm very tempted!

Ooh, scoop envy, I rather like it too now, would never have done it myself, but would not dream of removing it either.
As for track days, I fancy another one but in the dry this time. I know that club Triumph are quite active in this way, but if you go to one, in the school holidays, I should be up for it if it's reasonably central. Will be doing Spa next May and the 30 mins for 100€ seems well worth it.
Keep us posted on your V8, looks like it will be very entertaining.
