Door card paint, dash board paint...

Postby troydeon » 16 Aug 2015 03:44

The door cards on my TR8 are extremely faded... Someone mentioned that if you buy a new one it fades pretty bad as well and recommended a paint for them...
I can't find that post... it may have been here or it may have been on facebook...
In the same conversation it was mentioned that a grey paint matching the dashboards was available...
It seems to me that there were two tan colors available camel and another one...
Does anyone know anything about either paints?

Hi Maxwell, could you let me have the details for the tan vinyl paint as I am restoring a blue drophead with badly faded tan interior. Are there more than one shade available?
Thanks, Rich.

Rich - Are you a TRDC Member? We ran a small feature sometime last year in TR-Driver...
We were working on Blue - I'm not sure just how far we've progressed.
I'll email Paul- the guy looking into it!

Paul is away at the moment but asked me to re-post this:

'We can supply the paint code to the US but would not be able to guarantee the colour match or the quality of the product. I can look into getting some 'sent over' but would have to send an amount that was worth the cost'.

Reference the blue. I now have a blue door card that I can match. I will drop it off at the paint manufacturers next week and let you know. As for colour, as far as I am aware there is only one shade of tan, and one shade of blue.

There were two colours of tan I believe, tan and beige (UK) = biscuit (N/A) if I interpret the different parts books right or am I missing something?

Hi Maxwell, yes I am in the TRDC and I do recall reading an article about the tan paint. I assume the contact details to obtain the paint are printed in the article or do you have them? It is actually the tan (or biscuit?) that I need as the car is Cavalry blue with tan interior.
Thanks,
Rich.

I found the original conversation on the TWOA facebook page...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/TWOAGro ... 476772266/

David Elsberry provided photos and a link to the die that he had used...

and some notes about the grey color for the dash ( that is gray and colour for those that aren't over here)
