Forum Updated 15 May 2015

Postby rugbyref1 » 15 May 2015 07:17

forum was offline for about 30 seconds last night as we updated it in response to your requests :

1. tidied up icon navigation underneath main picture including notifications which were problematic
2. added pagination and post reply to foot of the topic and forum
- also added post reply to tools on each post
- added in subscribe and unsubscribe to forum at the foot of the page
- took out some of the "funny " fonts and toned down the orange
- substituted the word "forum" in the main image title with the username of the member, if not logged in it will say "Anonymous"
3. photos (max 3) can be directly uploaded into each post - if you can use photobucket / flikr then that would be useful as it will save forum space.

Other features / repairs will be added over time ... let us know if you want anything sorting / doing.

We have now reached an all-time record (on old & new forum) of 4000 members ....

Well done, keeps getting better.

Any chance of the 'previous/next' thread buttons at the bottom of each page/thread? Just something I had got into the habit of using on the old site.

indeed it is :

Pagination is the process of dividing (content) into discrete pages, either electronic pages or printed pages. The first known useage of the word was in 1841.

Hi All,

Excellent update to breath new life our forum!

If I could make a suggestion..... A huge amount of real estate is taken up by the page header and by the names of the respondees. If there could be a switch to minimize those (like minimizing the ribbon commands in Windows), so that I could see more of the text and pics, it would be great.

Just a thought.
Thanks
M.

We are still playing a little with fonts and colours and i am sure there will be more subtle changes as we go along - what is good is that very few people have had problems reading the site (imagine the number of browsers, operating systems and screen sizes!) and access is now almost complete - a few people had problems mainly due to change of emails, etc.

Almost there with the forum and then i can can back on with the database!

May I make a suggestion.

The forum is looking great and I do like the page header images but they take up half of my screen. When using the forum this is in effect dead space on the screen so would it be an idea to reduce the height of the header? This is awfully subjective as I know you can always scroll down so I may be in the minority.

This is not a criticism as the website is developing into a very impressive site.

Thanks for all the work of everyone involved.

Very much improved from a readability perspective, thanks. I would still like to see sections with new messages that I have not read (since last visit) to be highlighted or otherwise identified on the first page containing forum headings. When I hit the button new posts, I get a different view with just the new posts by time of post.I always read new posts in certain areas (TR8, for sale and blogs) and rarely in some others (jokes other cars etc) so the above change would allow me to go to new posts in areas of interest

Probably leave it alone for a week or so and let things settle down - then add a feature / change or two :)
