If anyone deserves the credit for the 'rising stock of TR7's', it is all you good people here on THIS forum. Certainly not the media, certainly not the various groups and clubs who for so long heaped damnation on the last of the breed. It has always been 'we few, we happy few, we band of brothers'! (Well, there have been a few sisters thrown in, too, but that's besides the point.) The point is, despite the adversity of being shamed by all, it is we, here and now, who should collectively, inwardly shine and continue our humble, yet noble efforts at proving the yapping dogs wrong.

You, out there, were right all along.

Why do you think this forum is the sole reason the profile of the 7 has recently been raised?
You are doing a great diss service to the people who really are doing something. People making fantastic DVD's, harassing the classic car magazines and arranging great events.
As usual you live in your own little bizarre bubble.

Well it take all sorts doesn't it. Personally I don't care what they're worth or what the media think of them, it's irrelevant. I will spend what it takes to keep mine going because I love it. John Clancy and others who promote these cars are legends and have done a great service to the car. As a newby to the club scene, (but not ownership), I can also see that the clubs are playing their part, but mostly I think it's people in in their 40s who loved them as a child and now have some spare cash. The popularity and value of these cars is as much about demographics as it is the contribution of clubs or individuals. PS, I bought one when I was 25 and drove it to death. I'm sorry it's gone but the memories never will be! Amen

PS it was PEU67Y red FHC. Anyone know it? The floors had a Zanussi logo on them in recognition of the white goods from which the steel was cut (and I am not making that up)! Utterly rotten! The wheels released air pressure at an alarming rate and the tank was mostly full of water. I had no money at the time but Essex Triumph kept it going for me for peanuts. Great days

My son bought his sight unseen from ebay pictures. It was not a good car but his reckoning was "what else looks so good for only £1,000"He was actually abused verbally by other younger people whilst driving it with shouts of You must be a fool to drive that, being one comment. So they can provoke good and bad interest.Steve..

Hi,

Jealously is never a good thing to witness [:p] I feel the same way about there Vauxhall 3 cylinder Corsa's with no suspension, an old tin bucket for exhaust and a stereo that shakes the windows in my house when they drive past, but hey each to there own. I guess you either get the whole classic car thing or you don't. Girl friend don't get it in the least ( just like I don't understand her love of gardening ) BUT that way I get to do my own thing so not trying to hard to change her mind !!!

I have had generally good comments in the past, with twice this year notes left in the DHC, " I want to buy your car please ", phone this number please [:0] It amazes me that most people you talk too know someone who owned one in the past. Reliability is always mentioned but most car's of that period had problems, and the fact that modern car's still do keep me in a job [^].

Well done to all those involved in promoting our car's.

Cheers John

With the 7, I fairly regularly get the comment, "gee you've looked after that well". I usually don't mention that it looks & goes that way, because I have spent the price of a new Toyota Corolla on making it that way. I also get the "haven't seen one of those for quite a while" as well, followed by mention of one they knew in the past.

These comments are always admiring & friendly, particularly from the young, with "gee I like your car mister". Some do ask "what's a Triumph".

I had to laugh the time a couple of kids in the back of a new Porsche 4 wheel drive admired it. I told them to tell their dad to get one, at which the heavily tinted drivers window slid down, & dad advised me & the kids they couldn't afford one.

The 8 is quite different, particularly when idling quietly around. People hear that big engine draining out the big twin exhaust, & know it is powerful. With no decals on it I have been accused of driving almost everything but a Lamborghini or an MG, with Maserati a popular one.

People from kids to grand mothers have admired it.
