Tim - see Russ's May 8 explanation. I had never heard the term before. The tire guys here told me what they did but not what they were called; I suspect there are other names for them as well. Hasbeen referred to centering rings.

Thanks, Ken. The aftermarket rim guy calls them hub centric adapter rings, and I am in the process of getting a set. He said this is a
common problem and said it even happens to non hub centric steel rims that people are buying to put their winter tires on, particularly ones
purchased from department store tire shops. Learn something new everyday. There is a 15mm difference between my hub diameter and alloy
rim center opening. Here's hoping it helps when the rings come in.

On one of my 7's I never had the problem until I recently changed tyres and then got the 50/60mph wobble. Went back to the tyre place and they said it was within tolerances and the best they could do with placing weights 'out of sight' on the inside of the wheels. He then got them balanced fully using weights on the inside as well and problem was solved.
My car has many new steering/suspension parts as well so seems we're susceptible to small wheel alignment issues.

Ok Gang, got my plastic hub centric spacer rings (that is what they are called here in Canada). Took my wheels off and snapped the rings into place, put the wheels back on and I noticed a difference immediately when installing the nuts, no fighting to line the studs up. torqued the wheels and took it for a spin, absolutely smooth as a baby's behind. No wobble what so ever, took it all the way up to 120 km. $24.00 canadian,
no wobble or vibration, priceless. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

where did you get them from , what kind of rims do you have and what size are the rings ??

I'm contemplating a set of rims for my car , and would like to hear what you found!

Hi Ron, I bought the wheels at the spring British swap meet at the new Ancaster Fairgrounds. I bought them at the 2013 meet. They look like a Minilite or Rota knock off. They were in very rough and oxidized condition. I hand sanded them with progressively finer grade sandpaper, a lot of time and lager over the winter. I then masked off the edge, painted the middle 3 coats of gun metal grey, left the edges polished aluminum and then 3 coats of clear coat. They are 6.5 X 13, the adapter rings I needed were 57.10 mm ID. by 72.6 OD. I got them from the Tire Team store here in Waterloo. The part # for the rings is A72-5710. I bought center caps and new nuts at swap meet this years. I think I did ok, $100 for the rims, $20 worth of paint,$35 for the nuts and $40 for the center caps. I think I figured out photobucket so you can view pictures of the wheels.

the wheels I'm looking at are equally beat/corroded but with decent rubber. (which is the reason I'm wanting them actually)
I'll probably be following the same route as you did with the wheel resto...

Ron,if by Khumos, you mean the tires, I have Hankook Optimas which I really like. They wear very well even with me driving aggressively when by myself. P185/70R14 seems to be the perfect fit for the 6.5 inch rim width. Good luck with your wheels.
